2023 Contemporary Flat, The grey house, Hackney
The newly built extension on a London flat maximises brightness in the interior space and emphasises the connection between the exterior terrace and interior space. Internally, the walls are cladded in wood, which gives the space warmth. Externally, the green roof adds vibrancy and bio-diversity to the surroundings.
The existing spaces are renovated, and the compact kitchen and dining space are warm and welcoming. The kitchen cabinets are made of teak-faced plywood, and the worktop is concrete, which is emphasised by the hand-glazed reclaimed green tiles comprising the splashback. The tap is contemporary and minimal by Vola.
The shower room is designed as a wet room with a combination of small moduled wall tiles and Corian solid surfaces.
